Commercial-Use Licence
Last updated 23 October 2026
This page says what you may do with the audio you make. It is part of our terms of service.
Free plan: personal use only
Audio made with the Free plan is licensed for personal, non-commercial use: learning, hobby projects, private listening and personal testing. It is not licensed for anything that earns money or promotes a business.
Paid plans: commercial use included
Audio made while you have an active Pro, Studio or Scale plan (or with characters from a top-up used during a paid period) comes with a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use it for commercial purposes. For example:
- Monetised YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and other videos
- Podcasts and audiobooks, including selling them
- E-learning courses and training material
- Ads, explainers, product demos and presentations
- Apps, games and websites you build (as playable audio content)
- Work you do for your clients
You do not need to credit Cylindricle, and you do not pay royalties. Please follow the labelling expectations in the AI voice policy.
The licence stays after your plan ends
Audio you made during a paid period stays licensed for commercial use for ever, even if your plan ends later. Audio you make after your paid plan ends, on the Free plan, is personal use only.
What you may not do
- Resell or redistribute our voices as a standalone product, such as a text-to-speech service, API, sound library or voice pack.
- Use Cylindricle audio to train or fine-tune speech, voice or other machine-learning models, or to build voice datasets.
- Claim that a person or celebrity spoke the audio, or use it in ways that break our acceptable use policy.
- Register or claim the voices themselves as a trademark or your own exclusive voice.
Who owns what
You own your text. As between you and us, you may use the audio under this licence. We give no guarantee that the audio is free of third-party rights where the text itself comes from someone else, so make sure you have the rights to the text you submit. The underlying model is open source; see open-source notices.
Platform rules
Platforms such as YouTube, Spotify and Audible have their own rules about AI-generated content and may require disclosure. Following them is your responsibility.
